This suite of Hospitality and Catering qualifications covers a range of knowledge and skills at various levels to support learners from entry to employment to career progression within the industry.
For learners who wish to pursue a career in the Hospitality and Catering Industry and work towards becoming a professional chef, food and beverage operative or work as a Barista.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
If you are new to the industry and want to gain a good understanding of catering work, enough to succeed in a kitchen or food and beverage environment or move on to further progression, the SCQF level 4 qualifications are ideal for you.

If you already have some basic skills and experience as a chef or as a Barista, and wish to gain a qualification to increase your skills and knowledge and help you pursue more senior roles in the industry the SCQF level 5 qualifications are ideal for you.

To deliver these qualifications, centres/colleges will need to provide their learners with a suitable learning environment and the resources they need to complete the practical and theoretical aspects of the qualification.

SCQF 4

Certificate in Professional Food and Beverage Service at SCQF Level 4 is ideal for those interested in working front of house in a restaurant. You will build the skills and knowledge required to deliver a high level of service in a variety of environments, covering areas such as food service, food safety, handling payments, bookings, serving hot and cold beverages, bar service and menu design.

Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery at SCQF Level 4 is for those who work or aspire to work as a chef in the catering and hospitality sector. It is ideal for school leavers who aspire to a career in this industry. This is a good progression route onto qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
