The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership can help you progress to a more senior role within hospitality. You'll broaden your existing knowledge and gain important leadership and management skills to help you take on more responsibility.

This qualification forms part of the level 3 apprenticeship together with the 7108 qualification.
The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership is for anybody already working in the hospitality sector who wants to take on more responsibility at work.  Some experience in the hospitality industry would be beneficial although not essential if you are about to take up a new role in this sector.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover things like:

  • Leadership
  • Working relationships
  • Customer service
  • Resource control
  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Portering and concierge
  • Reception, reservations and bookings.

This qualification gives you greater flexibility when studying and allows you to transfer credits across qualifications. You will be awarded credits for each unit you complete.

For the Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership you will learn and be observed in the workplace or RWE and be assessed by observations of your workplace performance.

Level 3

You've worked in the hospitality industry for some time - you have plenty of experience, and you might already supervise others or manage resources. You want to develop your knowledge and gain new skills, perhaps to move into a management role within the hospitality sector.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

Centres must provide access to sufficient equipment in the centre or workplace to ensure that learners have the opportunity to cover all of the practical activities.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

As much of the teaching takes place in the workplace, learners will ideally already be in a role within the industry.

Level 3

This level will suit you if you've worked in the hospitality industry for some time - you have plenty of experience, and you might already supervise others or manage resources. You want to develop your knowledge and skills, perhaps to move into a management role within the sector.

You complete five core units:

  • Lead a team to improve customer service
  • Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
  • Provide leadership for your team
  • Contribute to the control of resources
  • Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment.

You also choose a number of optional units from a wide range that includes:

  • Supervise reception services
  • Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
  • Contribute to the development of a wine list
  • Contribute to promoting hospitality services and products.
