Jason Howe

Jason Howe

Technical Advisor for Construction and Utilities

Jason began his construction journey as most others, as an apprentice. His apprenticeship and construction career began with a local building company who mainly served a beautiful and rural part of Co. Durham known as Weardale. The company specialised in traditional construction techniques and worked on a vast range of buildings and properties. Following this Jason moved on to set up and run his own Carpentry & Joinery company. Opportunities obtained during this time took Jason to work for many large construction companies across the UK, Northern Ireland and Spain.

Jason, then pursued a passion in early 2008 and transitioned into education as a Construction Assessor for Bishop Auckland College. From here Jason progressed, becoming a college lecturer and then construction lead. After further development and a promotion Jason progressed into curriculum management and led a very successful construction and automotive department. Since then Jason broadened his horizons and took an opportunity to become a senior leader and the head of an outstanding engineering training provider, South West Durham Training.

A successful period then saw Jason moved back to where his heart was and back as a Construction Head of Department at Newcastle College (Part of NCG). During his career in further education Jason has also worked as a consultant and quality associate for City and Guilds in roles such as EQA, LIEPA and Qualification and assessment writer and reviewer. After many years as a Quality Associate for awarding organisations, Jason has since followed a long-term dream and is now working at City and Guilds as a Technical advisor for Construction and Utilities.

Jason also holds several roles within professional bodies and organisations. He is the regional chair for the Institute of Carpenters in the North East, is the regional vice chair for the British Association of Construction Heads in the North East and is also a school governor for a local primary school.

As all Technical Advisors, Jason is available to provide support and advice to customers, stakeholders and industry. Responding to their requirements and provide the guidance and support that City & Guilds is uniquely placed to provide.
