City & Guilds announces Medals for Excellence winners

City & Guilds has announced the 2014-2015 Medals for Excellence winners.

Medals for Excellence have been awarded for more than 100 years to lecturers, learners and trainers who have shown exceptional dedication to learning and development, or training others in a particular skill.

This year's 104 global recipients were nominated by fellow lecturers, learners and trainers, and represent a wide variety of sectors – from engineering to tourism.

Speaking about their success, Kirstie Donnelly MBE, UK Managing Director at City & Guilds said:

'Our medal winners are an inspiration. Every one of them has produced exceptional work over the course of the year, going above and beyond what is expected to achieve their goals.

'We judged the candidates by not only their excellent results, but also looked for those who showed a true journey of progression.

'I hope the winners and all those nominated will be spurred on by this to achieve even greater success in their careers.'

UK winners will receive their medals at regional ceremonies in:

  • London, 13 April
  • Nottingham, 24 April
  • Manchester, 27 April 
  • Northern Ireland, 29 April and
  • Bristol, 30 April

I am absolutely delighted that my nominee Christopher Gale has won a Medal for Excellence for Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills, the only learner in Northern Ireland. He is a champion learner for Retail Skills and I wish him every success in the future. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank City and Guilds (Belfast and London) for their continued support and for helping to make life better for all individuals. A big thank you to you all.
