The Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles can help you get a supervisory or management job in hospitality.

You'll develop your existing knowledge and gain valuable skills in leadership and management.

This qualification also forms the technical certificate within the Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership apprenticeship.

The Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles is for anybody who already works in hospitality and wants to take on more responsibility.

You will need some experience in the industry ideally.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

You'll cover things like:

  • the structure of the hospitality industry
  • communication
  • leading a team
  • supervision of customer service
  • stock control
  • the effective use of resources.

This qualification gives you greater flexibility when studying and allows you to transfer credits across qualifications. You will be awarded credits for each course of study you complete.

Your working or about to take a role in the hospitality industry - you have plenty of experience, and you might already supervise others or manage resources. You want to develop your knowledge and gain new skills, to progress your career in the hospitality sector.

The Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles can help you find work in a variety of roles including:

  • Bar person/manager
  • Catering/restaurant manager
  • Hotel manager
  • Kitchen supervisor/manager
  • Leisure centre manager
  • Supervisor/team leader.

Once you have completed the qualification you could move on to:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership (NVQ)
  • Foundation and hospitality degree programmes.

You could also move onto further management qualifications from the ILM.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

In order to offer the Award in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Principles you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

You can get fast-track approval if you offer:

  • Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership (7250)

Centres currently offering the 7250-02 can gain fast track approval to offer the 7108-12.

Anyone can take this qualification, but you must make sure all your learners can access the resources they need to complete it.

Ideally learners will already be in a role within the hospitality industry as much of the learning takes place in the workplace.

Level 3

Your working or about to take a role in the hospitality industry - you have plenty of experience, and you might already supervise others or manage resources. You want to develop your knowledge and gain new skills, to progress your career in the hospitality sector.

At this level you complete two core units:

  • Principles of leading a team in the hospitality industry
  • Supervision of operations in the hospitality industry.
