This is a knowledge based qualification which forms part of the Hospitality higher apprenticeship framework.

This qualification is designed to give you the underpinning knowledge that can help you achieve the apprenticeship in hospitality management.

It provides a clear progression route for those who have completed the Level 3 qualifications in Hospitality and Catering and will offer both the existing workforce and new entrants opportunity to progress into higher education.
This qualification and apprenticeship is aimed at Hospitality managers, heads of departments, kitchen manager, head chef, executive chef, front office manager, front of house manager, reception manager, accommodation manager, housekeeping manager, executive housekeeper, food & beverage manager, restaurant manager, bar manager.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
You'll cover things like:
  • Leadership and management in hospitality organisations
  • Complying with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Developing hospitality teams
  • how to plan and manage food and beverage operations
  • Food safety management for catering
  • Hospitality accommodation management

You will learn on the job in the work environment or in a suitable training provider. 

What Careers Can This Lead To?
The qualification can lead to a range of hospitality management careers. This could be as general managers and heads of department in hotels and contract catering establishments, restaurant managers, kitchen managers and managers in the events and leisure sector.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
It is designed to encourage work-based, higher education and SSC partners to provide a flexible and responsive delivery infrastructure. The assessment method will be assignments using realistic scenarios and evidence from the workplace where appropriate. Centre devised assignments are also possible, for more information please refer to the handbook for more guidance.
