The Team Member Level 2 apprenticeship is for learners working in a wide range of hospitality settings across the service and commercial sectors.   

Our apprenticeship offer provides all the materials and solutions you need to sustain flexible delivery models that are cost effective, time efficient and meet the learning styles of your apprentices. It helps motivate them to be successful, productive in their role and are fully prepared for end-point assessment.

Our high-quality, rigorous end-point assessment can be delivered at a convenient time for your apprentice.

City & guilds are currently providing support and EPA for the following occupational routes:

• Food and Beverage Service
• Alcohol Beverage Service
• Food Production

A team member can operate in a range of functions across a business, this may be Food & beverage Service, Barista, Food Production, Concierge, Front of house Reception, Housekeeping, Reservation or Events and is likely to appeal to an apprentice who has a clear career path in mind after working in one or more of the occupation. The primary objective of a team member occupation apprentice is to gather the skills, knowledge and behaviours to prepare them for a career within the industry and first line supervision, however it is necessary to understand and have experience in the basics the role provides in order to progress to any future role.

The Team Member Apprenticeship typically lasts 12 months.

On-programme

Our apprenticeship training manual supports the learner to develop the skills, understanding and behaviors and help them to be competent at gateway and ready for end-point assessment. We also offer SmartScreen resources and a practice test paper.

The apprentices’ journey begins with a period of learning, development and continuous assessment which covers the full range of knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes required within the selected occupational environment. This is managed by the employer.  In most cases, there’s also support from a training provider.

End-point assessment

Use product codes 9083-11 ((Food and Beverage Service)/9083-12 (Alcohol Beverage Service)/9083-14 (Food Production) to order our EPA.

The assessment events include:

• 90-minute multiple choice e-volve test
• 2-hour practical observation in the workplace
• business project
• professional discussion

At end-point assessment the apprentice must show they can perform in the occupation in a fully competent, holistic and productive way.  All elements of the assessment are graded fail/pass/distinction.

If the apprentice passes their assessment successfully, we’ll apply to the ESFA for the apprenticeship certification. The certificate will then be sent to the apprentice’s employer.  We also provide our own City of Guilds-branded statement of achievement.

1. If you’re an existing City & Guilds customer, go to Walled Garden and select the materials you need or register your apprentice for end-point assessment. (You may need to submit a request to deliver if you don’t yet have approval for that standard.)
2. Get in touch with directsales@cityandguilds.com. Our Direct Sales Team can explain our different products and services and start getting you set up as a customer or give existing customers support on the new apprenticeship arrangements.
3. Speak to your City & Guilds Business Manager about how to access our products or how to register your apprentices with us.
