These qualifications replaced the 2339 Electrical Power Engineering qualifications that expired in March 2021.  The updated qualification content is based on the National Occupational Standards developed by Energy & Utility Skills for the industry.
These qualification are for those in the power industry. They could be undertaking an Apprenticeship Standard such as the Power Network Craftsperson, wishing to gain knowledge and prove competence in the or progress to a more responsible role.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering - Distribution and Transmission (Technical Knowledge)learners must be achieve all mandatory units.
  • Understand legislation in the power industry
  • Mathematics, mechanical and electrical theory in power engineering
  • Power engineering electrical networks, plant and apparatus
  • Power engineering: cables, sub stations and overhead lines

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering (Competence), learners must select one of three available pathways:
  • Overhead Lines
  • Substation Plant
  • Underground Cables

What Careers Can This Lead To?
They allow candidates to progress into employment or to an apprenticeship standard such as the Power Network Craftsperson.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?
These qualifications allow candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and career progression in the power industry.  There are two routes Technical Knowledge and Competence.
