Formed in 1976, Trackwork, a family-run business, is committed to striving for excellence. Trackwork has steadily grown to become a significant contributor to the UK's rail infrastructure. Based in Doncaster, Trackwork, provides a wide range of rail construction and maintenance, switch and crossing manufacture, track material supply and disposal, rail plant and labour hire, signalling and training services.
To help provide the skills needed for the organisation’s future workforce, the training department, headed by John Belton and Wayne Chawner, works with City & Guilds and colleges across the country to offer hundreds of apprenticeships every year in rail engineering. This includes Functional Skills, Diplomas, Technical Certificates, NVQ and PLTS.
Just some of the sites where people can take their apprenticeship include: Doncaster, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Carnforth, North Shields, and Shildon (

Following the programme’s success, Trackwork is also working with colleges and prisons to help, train, and place ex-offenders into employment on their release, so they can start a new life and find a successful, rewarding career.
