Kickstart Scheme

This government initiative provides funding for employers to provide six month work placements for 16-to-24 year olds who are receiving Universal Credit and are at risk of long term unemployment.

The funding covers:

  • 100% of the National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage for 25 hours a week for six months
  • National Insurance Contributions for participants

Designed to offer a minimum of 30 placements per organisation, there is the opportunity for employers to work with existing Kickstart gateway providers where an employer is not able to offer the minimum number of placements.

Our Employability Skills suite of qualifications is designed to support individuals to develop the skills they need in preparing for work and life. You can build your programme with individual units leading to qualifications of various sizes from 20 hours learning to longer programmes of 60, 100 and 150 hours learning.

Maths and English are vital skills we all need to develop and keep using throughout life. Almost every job requires the ability to communicate and use numbers confidently, along with the capacity to problem solve and use technology effectively.

City & Guilds has a range of qualifications which can be used to support learners with developing their Maths and English skills from Functional Skills (4748) which are intended for anyone wishing to develop their maths and English. They focus on both the underpinning skills as well as the ability to apply maths and English to different contexts.

We have a highly versatile collection of units and qualifications that are designed to support flexible and personalised patterns of maths and English learning, our ‘Bite sized’ English Skills and Maths Skills (3847) qualifications for a more targeted development of specific skills.

Our Principles of Maths and English (3844) qualifications enable learners to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of maths or English, as well as the confidence and resilience to operate under the pressure of a one-off onscreen test. Available at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2, these qualifications can be used to help learners progress towards 'destination' qualifications such as Functional Skills or GCSE.

Visit the Maths and English landing page for more detail.

As we increasingly move into a digital world, it is important for individuals to receive acknowledgement of their learning activities and to be able to share these on a digital platform.

We have a wide range of services to help you realise the potential and make all skills visible. Investing in frontline workforce development can cut the costs associated with employee retention and attracting talent and improve employee engagement and customer satisfaction.

We issue our credentials on the Acclaim by Credly platform and more information can be found on the dedicated page.
